NWS Regional Weather Spotter Training

The National Weather Service in cooperation with the Stephenson County Emergency Management Agency is holding the regional weather spotter class for Carroll, Jo Daviess and Stephenson County.

The class is being held Thursday, March 7th, at Highland Community College in building H, room 201. Registration begins at 6:00 PM and class will begin at 6:30 PM. This will be the only NWS spotter class for these counties in 2013. The class will last approximately two (2) hours, is open to the public and is FREE.

Spotter training classes cover severe weather hazards including thunderstorms and tornadoes. This includes the general structure and movement of severe thunderstorms, identification of important storm features and safety concerns.

Weather spotters are required to attend a training session every two (2) years to stay certified.
